People are drawn to dude ranch jobs for a variety of reasons, but none of these reasons include the desire to sit at a desk and wait for retirement. Working at a dude ranch is honest, wholesome, and, often, physical employment. It doesn't even occur to the lazy to apply.

There is certainly a lot of work to be done around a dude ranch. For those that are seeking the distinct way of life that a dude ranch offers, employment can be found. Working at a dude ranch pairs the romance of the old west, with the practical requirements of daily living. Room and board are usually supplied, as well as a cash stipend.

Although wranglers are often found listed among dude ranch jobs, there's a lot more to the daily operation of a dude ranch than roping cattle. Cowboy experience is not required to work at a dude ranch.

Ranch management jobs are available for those with the skills and the desire to run the show. Horseback riding instructors are invaluable at all types of dude ranches. Hiking and whitewater rafting guide jobs are available to experienced nature lovers. For those in the food service industry, chefs, servers and bartenders are important positions in taking care of guests. Housekeeping and maintenance positions are almost always available.

The key part of all dude ranch jobs lies in making guests feel comfortable and welcome, and happy with their experience. If you can imagine yourself providing that hospitality, then a dude ranch may be the place for you.
